A nice surprise - a Hedgehog which visited us in our Cranham garden for a couple of days,then seen no more.

Into September '16 - Barking Quay

A couple of  photo's from Barking town quay, an unlikely place to spot wildlife you would think, but there's plenty in urban area's if you look. On this day I saw a Kingfisher there, unfortunately by the time I had my camera set up....it flew !
Mute Swans, Herring Gull, Moorhen and a good old Brown Rat.

A lot of catching up to do !

I can't believe I've left it sooo long since my last posting, eeek a lot of catching up to do; way back in August at Rainham Marshes R.S.P.B reserve a special event was held to highlight the disappearing Hen Harriers from our moors, mainly by the persecution of the Grouse shooting fraternity, gamekeepers etc. Hen Harriers eat Grouse so they are hated by gamekeepers has they can reduce the numbers of grouse ( very very few ) So the gamekeeper shoot, illegally trap and poison them. The land owners can set up a Grouse driven shooting day's and charge hundreds of pounds to the 'shooters' so they can have fun slaughtering the birds as 'sport'.
A few high profile conservationists came to speak against Grouse driven shooting; those that  gave excellent reasons why this so called sport should be banned were Chris Packham, Charlie Moores ( BAWC ) Mike Clarke ( RSPB CEO ) and Mark Avery.
